Since we never found anyone to help us out with working on that website, Dee decided to “let it die out”. That is understandable since her life has changed and she has no time for it anymore. I can’t blame her. I’m a geek and I have no life, but I can’t do everything.
If there was anyone out there who has excellent web design skills and wanted to do a website with me, I might have considerd it. However, I’m skeptical because I see new game websites start up every day and they all fail within a very short time.So what I decided to do was to move all my content to my own website here at Geek Woman Speaks and do a blog style website on my own.
Take this as a word to the wise kids, running a game website is no fun. It is a ton of work. Even with a staff of contributors you wtill need a web designer and an administrator/editor like myself as well. No one likes to work for free, and personally I don’t mind writing, but when it comes to the spammers and the hackers, it just is not my cup of tea to go in and fix it all. Over and over again.
When people ask me if the situation for female gamers is improving, I have to answer that everywhere I look it is not. Men still come into women’s game websites and dominate them. Men insult us and do everything they can to mess with us during gaming on Xbox Live. And men go to any lengths to sabotaoge our websites.
So guys keep it up, stay single or go gay becasue you aren’t going to find compatible women that enjoy video games by destroying our female gamer portals.
