Guild Wars: Eye of the North is a true expansion pack. It is different from the previous chapters of Guild Wars that were added, which were called Factions and Nightfall. This time after you pop in the DVD and load the new content, you won’t see a specific character creation set up for Eye of the North…
What they have done is to add in access to new territories. In these new areas vast quantities of explorable land and dungeons have been put in. While in these areas you will meet several new NPC’s called “Heroes” who have an issue or request of you as part of the story line. These specific quests are there to make the epic transition from Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2.
You can only bring existing level 20 PvE (role-playing) characters into the four new regions and get up to 150 new skills, new sets of armor, and advanced weapons. Guild Wars: Eye of the North is compatible with each of the three campaigns in the Guild Wars franchise Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall.
To access the expansion’s content, you will have to complete an introductory quest. Then characters can travel in and see the new areas with the World Map travel system.
Characters in each chapter have to find and meet with a certain NPC in order to advance. Characters from the original Guild Wars campaign wishing to travel to the Far Shiverpeaks for the first time should seek out Len Caldoron in Lion’s Arch and accept the “What Lies Beneath” quest. Factions characters wishing to travel to the Far Shiverpeaks for the first time should seek out Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center and accept the “I Feel the Earth Move Under Cantha’s Feet” quest. Nightfall characters wishing to travel to the Far Shiverpeaks for the first time should seek out Bendah in Kamadan and accept the “Hole of Istan” quest.
