Whether it’s being in the top 40 videos on YouTube, or cranking up big sales numbers in the USA, Bleach is a very special manga/anime. It has the spiritual elements of Inuyasha in a more modern setting. The snappy dialog appeals to many different demographics and age groups. It’s an IP that can be enjoyed on many different levels by who ever is watching it. Everyone gets something different from Bleach. To celebrate the two Bleach titles coming to Europe and it’s continued success here in the US on Adult Swim, I put together this ‘Big Bleach Bonanza’ for fellow Bleach fans to enjoy. Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the DS is available as of January 28, 2008. Bleach™ Shattered Blade should also be available on the Wii. More good Bleach news is that it has been renewed for 2nd Season on Adult Swim here in the US. 52 New Episodes Start March 1st! Viz Media has announced that the 52-episode second season of the Bleach anime series will begin airing on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim on Saturday, March 1st.
The TV 14-rated Bleach anime is based on the Bleach manga by Tite Kubo, which has reached 31 volumes in Japan where it is still ongoing. Viz Media also releases the Bleach manga (Volume 22 is due out this week) here in the U.S. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the Bleach manga debuted in Japan in October of 2005 and remains on the air in Japan today with more than 157 episodes broadcast so far. Viz Media has released a Bleach Season 1 box set as well as individual four-episode volumes (Volume 8 came out last week).
The Bleach story-line follows fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki who has the power to see spirits from the afterlife, including warriors known as Soul Reapers. The Soul Reapers are tasked with defending humans from otherworldly beings called Hollows. One fateful day, Ichigo meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who lends him her powers after she’s injured by a Hollow. In the game, players will progress through an exciting story-line facing increasingly difficult opponents in their quest.
Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the DS also allows gamers to build Spirit Card Decks to strategically access power-ups and power-downs to perform special attacks, cast healing spells on themselves, displace opponents, or prohibit them from using their own Spirit Cards.
