mechanic_master.jpgMechanic Master for DS is a cute puzzle game. It is also a level design game as well. In it you can draw platforms and arrange platforming gadgets to propel objects into each other. When you get the ball rolling just right, purple aliens get killed, lighters flick, fire wheels spin, and aerosol cans shoot. There are a few different game-play modes too that give you the chance to either solve preexisting levels, create your own or create and play levels online. It’s a good little game that is pretty ambitious.

You have to kill all the blobs or, save all trapped humans. Sometimes you’ll have to figure out how to make the little belts and motors interact with each other. In the mode where you can draw in your own items, drawing a circle creates two black-holes. The psychedelic colored portals will transport stuff from one end to the other, to circumvent obstacles. The two puzzle modes either use gravity which will roll balls, activate fans, and trampolines. The rainbow lines that you draw remind me of Kirby Canvas Curse, which is a game that I have wished more than once that I had kept.

Mechanic Master gives you hours of addictive fun. There is plenty to obsess over, I mean play. The online modes allow you to make levels and let others play them online. Or you can download from theirs. Both people will need a copy of the game. The graphics and the music could be alot better. Mechanic Master is good because of the different ways that you use the stylus on the touch-screen interface. It seems that the more stuff you get to draw and slide in a DS game the better it is. mouse_trap_vintage_game.jpgThis one has a very interactive feeling to it, because you are making the events happen. Watching your level on the replay is rewarding. I know I’m dating myself and I don’t care, but this little DS game reminds me of Mouse Trap. It isn’t perfect, and it could use improvement. But it’s worth at least a rent, although you might have to buy it if you do. I give Mechanic Master DS seven falling anvils out of ten.
