There are two instruments which are the guitar and drums. The two modes it has are career and quick play. Three difficulty will let you try it on easy, normal or hard. The game play resembles the old original rhythm game Amplitude. You tap the different color frets along with the music. various riffs will be unleashed if you get it right. Although with some songs it doesn’t sound like you are making any difference.
It’s pretty much a watered down clone of Guitar Hero with fewer songs and only a few old standard hits. “Smoke on the Water” isn’t exactly blowing anyone’s door in anymore. Playing in career mode unlocks the rest of the songs, but there are only about 17 of them all together.
The guitar has four lines of notes. You tap the base of each line as the notes reach the bottom of the screen. If you get enough of them they change color and you can get double or more scores by hitting the special notes correctly. To activate a power chord – which is the same in every song, you hit “star mode”, a toggle switch on the the right side of the screen. Doing that makes it difficult not to miss notes. You can get more than one note at a time if they are simultaneous by sliding the stylus.
The graphics aren’t anything special. There is some glitter sparkles when you coordinate you note tapping. You can choose a female avatar, either a blonde in a skimpy outfit, or a gothy brunette with faerie wings.
The game is too short and too simple to really be a fully enjoyable experience. There aren’t enough songs, and they didn’t do a good jobs with the guitar parts on the tracks. This game gets 5 notes on the scale, out of 10.
