This game was attractive because of the cute female avatar. She is the only playable character in the game. If you are looking for a good hack and slash this is not it. Despite the constant view of bare booty, nothing can redeem this game.

There are pretty environments. Lots of splashes of neon vibrant colors, and a loud rockin sound track. Instead of all that window dressing more time should have been spent on the horrible level design. There aren’t enough pick ups to maintain the characters health bar, even on the easy setting. Most of the items are silver diamond shapes that seem to do nothing. Her health does not increase over time either.

The killings that she does increases her nuber of souls collected. Those are used to purchase a wide variety of skills and spells. In theory those would be fun to use. The gameplay however is far too short becae she is constantly mobbed. Then you have to go back again and again to do the same things, but the pick ups are gone if you continue instead of reloading the game. and who wants to wait around for that? Fireballs come from the boss at the same time as a rush from monsters that repeatedly respawn. It is difficult for her to doge all of it at once. Running away may distract them temporarily, but since there is no way to regenrate her health bar, it doesn’t work.

There is a void of good female characters in PS3 games. Developers still are letting us down inspite of all the lip service to female gamers two years ago. As far as female avatars go this one is a reinforcement of all the negative stereotypes. She has on a G-String! So she has no pants a all for the whole game. The camera angles shows you a bottoms up view frequently. Granted the ass is lovely, but it gets old right away because the game is pretty much unplayable. If you’re thinking, it doesn’t matter how bad the game is, if you can look at a hot girl – don’t. It’s frustrating as hell.

This game is broken and flawed beyond any possibility of redemption. Don’t buy it, and don’t waste time in your rental que on it either. It’s just not worth it. Trust me. Xblades gets a bad, boring, bottom of the barrel 2 out of 10.
