Think Before You Speak

I happened to see the new PSA for Think Before You Speak. on TV the other night. I’ve always found it irritating when little boys refer to something as Gay when they lack the intelligence to use a better word. This is far too common in the gamer world and is also now annoying when it is applied to movies. In light of the Constance McMillen case, which she has won, it’s coincidental that I felt the need to write about this today.  When something is lame, say it’s lame. Not Gay. In fact most gay entertainment is far from dull. Think Lady Gaga, though she is bisexual, her performances are glitzy, glittery and over the top. I’m sure she has a fleet of gays working to produce those jaw – dropping performances of hers. Her duet with Elton John on the Grammys – that was very gay – in fact it was gay-tastic. So is Adam Lambert, practically anything in Las Vegas, Margaret Cho’s stand up and movies, and Kathy Griffin’s comedy – she is in fact straight.  The Twilight movies are not gay. They are about a hetero romance among vampires. The last gay movie I saw was Brokeback Mountain, that is what a gay theme is, and that movie was a master piece filmed by Ang Lee. If you don’t like something, by all means trash it, but trash it good with the wide variety of adjectives available. Good adjectives are fun. They cost nothing and they make you sound smarter. Here you are help yourself. On a personal note, us older folks marched, write letters and get messed with so young people could fuck whomever you please. Thanks to us you can go get a tattoo in any state, read Tarot cards and not get arrested, and worship the Goddess if you choose. Please do not forget that you have these freedoms and that they can be taken away again if they aren’t cherished. I’ll use one in a sentence for you. Straight boys who have a limited vocabulary are insipid. in·sip·id (n-spd) adj.
